Curriculum vitae

  • Graduation cum laude in Nuclear Engineering in 1999 at Politecnico di Milano, with a thesis on the employ of genetic algorithms and Monte Carlo simulation for optimal plant design.
  • Process engineer in Corning OTI from 2000 to 2002 for the realization of special optical fibers.
  • PhD in Physics in 2005 at Politecnico di Milano, with a thesis on semiconductor spin electronics.
  • Assistant professor at the Physics Department of Politecnico di Milano from 2008 to 2014.
  • Associate professor from 2014 at Politecnico di Milano.
  • Scientific activity

His research activity is devoted to the realization and characterization of magnetic and multiferroic heterostructures and prototypical devices for spin-optoelectronics, spin-orbitronics, magneto-electronics and nano-biotechnology, and to the development of instrumentation for surface science (electron spin filters).

He participated to many research project on spin-electronics, as well as MEMS technology and nano-biotechnology, and coordinated 2 italian research projects.

He is author of 96 publications on international journals (WOS and Scopus h-index 22), 4 patent applications and 1 chapter book. He is editor of journal Materials and referee of many international journals.

He attended many international conferences, and co-organized the SuperFOx conference (First Conference on Superconductivity and Functional Oxides – 2012, Como, Italy), the ECOS workshop (Electric control of spin – 2020, Milano, Italy), the 6th Italian School on Magnetism (Information processing in spin-based systems – 2023, Milano, Italy) and the forthcoming SpinCom2024 (Spin-based computing and signal processing – 2024, Milano), satellite event of ICM 2024 (Bologna).

    Teaching

He is actually lecturer of three courses at Politecnico di Milano:

He is author of a textbook on wave physics and contributed to different textbooks on classical physics.
