This activity has been mainly carried at the interuniversitary <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/lness.como.polimi.it\/index.php\" target=\"_blank\">L-NESS<\/a> centre, Como, until 2014, and at <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.polifab.polimi.it\" target=\"_blank\">PoliFab<\/a>, the new facility for micro and nanofabrication of Politecnico di Milano, since December 2014. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His <strong>main expertises<\/strong> are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>growth (molecular beam epitaxy, pulsed laser deposition, magnetron sputtering) and characterization (electron diffraction and spectroscopies, magneto-optical Kerr effect and magneto-transport characterization) of thin films and heterostructures; <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>characterization (magneto-optical Kerr effect, Hall and Spin-Hall effect, Bilinear Magneto-Resistance) of prototypical devices for spintronics, spin-optoelectronics, spin-orbitronics, magneto-electronics and nano-biotechnology; <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>development of instrumentation for surface science, as the recent design and fabrication of a spin filtering membrane tool for electron beam polarimetry.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He leaded <strong>three research projects<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Unit Leader of Berry phase Engineering with Antiferromagnets and Topological Insulators (<a href=\"https:\/\/cantoni.faculty.polimi.it\/?page_id=597\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"597\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">BEAT<\/a>), 2025-2027, granted by MIUR<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Project Leader of Magnetic Information Storage in Antiferromagnet Spintronic Devices (<a href=\"https:\/\/cantoni.faculty.polimi.it\/?page_id=593\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"593\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MAGISTER<\/a>), 2014-2017, granted by Cariplo Foundation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Project Leader of Magnetically Controlled Single Molecule Delivery (<a href=\"https:\/\/cantoni.faculty.polimi.it\/?page_id=653\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"653\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MCSMD<\/a>), 2011-2013, granted by Politecnico di Milano<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His <strong>present activities<\/strong> are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>growth and characterization of films and related devices based on the transition metal dichalcogenides (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tweet.spin.cnr.it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TWEET <\/a>project) and topological\/ferroic systems (BEAT project);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>investigation of innovative beyond-CMOS logic architectures based on alternative substrates (FerroElectric Rashba Semiconductors) for green electronics with ultra-low power consumption (Electronics with Ferroelectricity and Spin-orbit coupling  &#8211; EFESO &#8211; project);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>characterization of the charge-to-spin and heat-to-spin conversion in Van der Waals dichalcogenides (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.subli.spin.cnr.it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SUBLI<\/a> project);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>implementation of data and metatada management protocols for growth and ARPES instrumentation according to FAIR principles (<a href=\"https:\/\/nffa-di.it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NFFA-DI<\/a> project);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> acquisition and management of a 2-inches MBE tool for growth of chalcogenides and functional materials for electronics and magneto-electronics applications (<a href=\"https:\/\/nffa-di.it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NFFA-DI<\/a> project). <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Research group<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>INSPIRE &#8211; Integrated Spintronic Research<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Affiliations<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fisi.polimi.it\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Department of Physics<\/a> @ <a href=\"http:\/\/www.polimi.it\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">PoliMI<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.polifab.polimi.it\" target=\"_blank\">PoliFAB<\/a> &#8211; micro and nanotecnology center  @<a href=\"http:\/\/www.polimi.it\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> PoliMI<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>His scientific activity is mainly devoted to the realization and characterization of magnetic heterostructures and devices, with applications in the fields of spin electronics and nano-biotechnology.
